Eight people were killed and the incident was documented in numerous newspaper articles as well as interviews with other survivors. Jon Krakauer, who was taken to Everest to write about Everest’s commercialisation Everest and the rising amount of wealthy clients with no knowledge then added the contents of his Outside Magazine article into a book with the same name, Into Thin Air (1997).
